Once again I got invited to movie preview by UIP, omy.sg and this time, I got to watch CONTRABAND which will only be released in the cinemas on 12th January 2012!
As usual, we had the entire huge theatre and chose our own seats!
Here's what it's about:
Chris Farraday (Wahlberg) long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy (Caleb Landry Jones), botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi), Chris is forced back into doing what he does best—running contraband—to settle Andy’s debt. Chris is a legendary smuggler and quickly assembles a crew with the help of his best friend, Sebastian (Ben Foster), to head to Panama and return with millions in counterfeit bills.
Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops and hit men before his wife, Kate (Kate Beckinsale), and sons become their target.
And here's what I think:
Definitely not child-friendly and I finally understand why it's M18 because of its coarse language. Throughout the whole fucking movie its they have this fucking tendency to use the word fuck or fucking in every sentence they fucking say. Yup, you got me, this what how it was.
Other than that, this movie is pretty alright but I was hoping it was more action-packed though. I have this intense love of hearing loud firing of machine guns and whatever guns but this movie managed to satisfy my love for it.
All in all, I love the great combination of thrill, humor and action in this movie and I think it's perfectly well done in that. Kudos to the cast and the crew! I'd give it 3/5 stars for this.
Here's the official trailer for Contraband:
Go catch it when it's out in the cinemas on 12 January 2012, Thursday!
