Deep thoughts in the early AM

In a lot of ways, I still love like a naive teen: boldly, brashly, without the thought of consequences. I think a lot of us still do, as much as we want to deny it inside, as much as we try to be strong and cold to the ones who have hurt us or have even the slightest potential of hurting us. That’s what makes us so fragile to begin with. Because even if we know better, it isn’t what you feel in your heart, it doesn’t have the power to rule over it, and a lot of us end up broken that way.

Regardless of how much we hold back, the idea of giving in somehow has a way of still seeping through. Because loving like a teenager is the only way we knew how to love, that’s the only way we learned how and how real it was, by walking into it blindly with arms wide open, willing to share and give everything in the slightest hope that it would be returned, and holding on even if it wasn’t, because sometimes in love, it doesn’t take too much to make us that happy, especially when it came to the one we longed for.

And in a lot of ways, it’s foolish, but I know I’d rather be a fool just to feel that way again. And for all that it’s worth, I think a lot of us would prefer that too.

Valentines Day 2012

Hi world, HAPPY VALENTINES' DAY! <3
I hope everyone had a good time with their loved ones, even if you didn't, there's the rest of the year for you to spend time with them. So chin up and smile! :)

Jiarui had his FYP presentation scheduled at 10.40AM on Valentine's Day itself so I went to school to had breakfast with him and studied a bit while waiting for him to be done.

This is what we did out of boredom while waiting for xiaojie to finish his presentation bcos I promised to help him look after his belongings while he's up.

Look on his face: Potential wife abuser
Look on my face: Potential bullied by husband

I realised 9 out of 10 pictures we took are with goofy faces. I don't know why we can't take a sweet and proper picture together. HAHAHAH

Headed to cine bcos we gotta catch 'We not naughty' and I gotta say the movie is damnnnn good! Got me laughing the whole time and it was quite touching too. Worth the money! :)

Had Best Fries Forever to snack on. We chose Gusto Garlic bcos we tried Wow wow west the other time, which I think is the best so far. The rest is nay~

After movie we went for dinz at Din Tai Fung, YAY XIAO LONG BAO!

My fav face <3

They actually served us hot tea when we were seated and we thought it was complimentary until in the middle of our meal, we saw that we were charged $2. No la, we were not so cheapskate to argue to have the $2 waived off. We drank to our hearts' content. Hell yeah free flow!

I kept signalling to the waiter to refill my drink, fav boy thinks we drank more than half of the pot's tea HAHAHAHA ok, my money is well spent.

Some pok with veg dumping but thing is, I only taste veg and it taste kinda bad. Had to dip it with soya sauce every mouth then rinse the taste off with my $2 hot tea.

Here's the legendary xiao long bao but I kinda prefer Crystal Jade's xiao long bao to Ding Tai Fung's and Crystal Jade has XLB buffet which is more worth it! But their xiao long bao taste decent :)

Before eating I told Jiarui that every xiao long bao has a specific number of folds on it and he really counted it while I watched him do it like a fool. Then after he found out, he attempted to murder me, k not funny. He just gave me the -.- face.

After eating a few more xiao long bao(s), I told him I managed to suck the soup out from the top where there's a opening and gave him the this-is-so-cool face. Then he proceed to suck the soup out while I sat there laughing at him being such a retard.

God, I love my boyfriend.

Kinda forgot the name of this dish but it's something like prawn dumpling is chicken broth sauce? It's damn good, bcos I like prawns HAHAHAH

And then this so so beef noodles, I like the noodles but the rest were just not good enough. I find that the beef taste wasn't strong enough to make the soup good.

Wanted to settle our dessert there as well but figured we'll go honeymoon dessert instead bcos Din Tai Fung didn't really win us with their food.

Here's our mini mochi mango sago with vanilla ice cream! Ikr, so sinful. Like putting 10kg on ourselves. But I always feel good after eating good food. What? Guilty? Exercise? What's that? HAHAHA

Went to Robinson's to get a wallet for my dad as his vday present. Saw the coin comparment of his wallet torn off badly the other day and he's still using it. Can't figure if he don't bear to buy himself a wallet or don't have the time to get himself one, so I got it for him instead. And I think the one up there is rewarding me for being such a nice and filial daughter, it was on 20% discount :)

Gave him a card as well, written with mixed chinese and english bcos I didn't know how to write 'the times', 'forgive', 'forever' 'filial', 'although' in chinese LOL MAJOR FAIL but I got to see him smile while reading it and everthing was just worth it.

Here's my old man opening his present up:

Told him I wanna take Polaroid with him and he went to dig out his beanie and worn it over his head, and asked 'Like that take picture will look like I got hair hor?' LOL MY DAD :')

Gave him the polariod and forced him to put it in his new wallet hehe!
This man is not just any other man, this man was my first love, my hero and this man loved me for 19 years and counting :')

That's the end of my 14th Feb 2012! Jiarui and I didn't really celebrate it bcos of our studies but we just wanted to spend time together. It's so funny how I told him we don't need to celebrate so he didn't get me anything(which I didn't mind at all), then we walked around town and all I see is the girls with two hands had one holding their bf's hand and the other holding a bouquet of flowers.

Then I started being a bitch and complain how others have it and I don't have. That poor boy was so annoyed he almost left me alone to go get one for me hahahaha but we all know how flowers are horribly overpriced on Valentine's Day so I stopped him, smiled and told him I don't want any.
Then the next moment, some girl with flowers walked past us and I started it all over again hahaha I swear being my boyfriend is one of life's toughest task. That's why I think I have a strong boyfriend, heh :)

Anyway, found this in my phone the other day, this alien is none other than Jiarui
HAHAHAHA IKR SIBEH JIALAT.

And when you think you've seen the worst, think again

Sometimes I think our face like that, how we even manage to fall in loe with each other. Then this picture reminded me: we have the couple face LOL

Ok that is all, bye!

Omy blogger event: Greenwich V Grand Opening Carnival - 10 Feb

Hey there you humans! Today's entry will be full of goodies teehee! I went to the Grand Opening for Greenwich V on Friday withe the courtesy of omy.sg and the Far East team . In case you don't know, Greenwich V is a new mall operated by the Far East group.

I know the picture below is not really clear but I didn't manage to take a picture of Greenich V myself so I had to get this online :(

But I'm not totally useless because I snapped this awesome picture after all the excitement!

We were told to be there at 7PM, we did. We walked around to explore and I kinda had my expectation too high because I thought it'll be like the next Vivo or Nex. Turns out Greenwich V is just a small mall but don't belittle this small place because it's packed with good food!

We were kinda hungry so when this staff working at Empire State(one of the restaurant in Greenwich V) passed me this flyer on their promotion, I wanted to walk in and just dine there but the mall was just too happening with all the hip music and buzzling crowd. I just had to explore all the booths before eating and boy, I made the right choice.

Turns all there were free food for all and I ended up queuing for it and totally forgot about my Empire State dinner HAHAHA

The queue was sooooo long so that explains the picture below HAHAHAH and to explain the poor quality of the picture, it was taken by my phone.

It was full of people and there's hardly any seats in sight! I spotted this and Jiarui was telling me how this looks like something people can sit on.
I was like 'dude, this IS something we can sit on'
Until he shows me that it's actually a fountain or whatever you call it. That's right, I was trolled.

Here's a closer look:

Halfway when I was queuing, we realised there were many queues for many types of food so fast so we kinda split up and Jiarui got this laksa from toastbox hehehe thumbs up!
I like how they were generous with their portion of food.

And here's the help-yourself-to-as-much-as-you-can part. This is when you see everyone unleashed the Singaporean-ness in them. I didn't.(lie) Jiarui did(lie again)

There were smoked salmon and all those good food I didn't expect! Sorry we had to be fast in getting the food because there were many people behind us, so I was moving quite fast in the line so not much photo was taken.

There was even chef explaining to you about their food. Well done. Impressive!

Here's what we got. Probably don't look tasty to you but they ARE tasty! Well, to be honest, not all were tasty. I only liked the salmon, prawn cake, sausages and beef stew. The rest were just like, take one bite, spit out one bite. Yeah, they were that bad.

Somehow we feel bad for taking the food and not finishing it so we forced it down our throat anyway. Doesn't look good to see someone throw their plate full of food into the bin isn't it.

Of course, there were the good part and bad part. I just mentioned the bad, let's move on to the good shall we? Yay to free Cold Stone ice-cream!

Fav boy chose Chocolate mint and I got choco for myself. I know, I'm sucha boring person. But I figured it doesn't matter as long there's exciting people around me making my boring life a lil' exciting right? So glad Jiarui chose choco mint, it's just sooooo good!

We're young at heart, we took the dry ice out and attempted to make the smoke come out fast and furious at Greenwich V. HAHAHA

And that's not all, we were offered green apples from Greenwich V!

And we also queued for berrylite froyo just because I'm a sucker for frozen yoghurt.

There were entertaintment and fun with the emcees and that's Vernetta Lopez! I remember growing up watching her on Channel 5 series: Under One Roof.

They were actually giving out vouchers to those who can answer their questions which were all GREEN.

Fav boy and I knew the answers to some question but there were many kids who beat us to it by running up to the stage. But it's nice to see all these cute and smart kids smile after they got the answer right.

We decided to leave after the programme was over and I think I took quite a nice shot below teehee! In case you wanna know, Greenwich V offers residents a variety of F&B outlets, shopping and lifestyle services including Cold Storage, Guardian, 7-Eleven, Kopitiam, Paradise Inn, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Toastbox. Oh, and how could I forget to mention gong cha for all you bubble tea fans out there!

On the bus back to Yio Chu Kang MRT, which is just less than 10mins away!

Here's the map:

And if you're worried of getting lost, no worries! There are complimentary shuttle bus services to Yio Chu Kang MRT stations and Fernvale LRT station! For more information, go to: http://www.greenwichv.com.sg

Goodie bag by Greenwich V :)

Just to show how good the goodie bag were, here are some awesome thing given to the bloggers! Kinda dissapointed they didn't give it to our partners though.

Here's the satisfied face after spending my Friday night at Greenwich V. Photo was taken by phone again so yeah, don't complain about the quality k?

LOL JK, here's one decent(I think) photo of me w/o makeup because I had school in the morning and I usually don't have to motivation to wake up an hour earlier to make myself look prettier.
Somehow I feel trimmed eyebrow + enlarged contacts + lip balm is enough.

Ok that is all folks, go head down to Greenwich for a simple evening with your loved ones. Perfect place for dinning then shop for groceries together as a family. Till then!
